TITLE:
Cleveland Boycott News
MEET THE DOCUMENT:
Imagine a time when Cesar Chavez, a leader for the rights of farm workers, found himself in a legal battle against a significant lettuce grower and Dow Chemical Corp. Chavez was fighting for fair conditions for farm workers, especially the workers that were involved in the lettuce farming. The legal conflict reached a point where they restricted workers from protesting and striking. The judge also imposed an incredibly high bond the workers couldn’t afford. The judge knew that Chavez couldn’t pay off this bond, so he told him he would let him free if he called off the consumer boycott against Antle lettuce.

TRY TO MAKE SENSE OF IT:
This article talks about how people need to boycott companies that take advantage of undocumented workers. The author wrote this article to shed light on the situation. A leader named Cesar Chavez wants to spread the word about how his people are treated. So, the author of this article brings awareness to the situation.
USE IT AS HISTORICAL EVIDENCE:
I found out that farm workers went on strike because they wanted to be treated fairly, and the government and companies felt they were wrong by doing this so that they would arrest them. Another document that I would use to help me understand this topic is the Indianapolis Farm Worker Support Committee because the same issues are occurring.
